Retractions and Corrections
Last updated: May 17, 2026
When we publish something and later discover it was wrong, mistaken, or misleading, we record the change here. We do not silently delete published rows. If we got it wrong, we want the record to show that too.
How this works
We distinguish two kinds of changes:
- Correction. The item stays on the site, but we edit it to fix an error and note what changed. Use this when the underlying claim still holds but some detail (date, count, role, link) was wrong.
- Retraction. We remove the item from the live tracker and log it here, with a short note describing why. Use this when the underlying claim does not hold up.
We log the date, a brief description of the original item, a brief description of what we got wrong, and (where possible) a link to the source we relied on. We do not name submitters.
How to flag an error
If you believe an item on the site is wrong, misleading, or should not be public, you have two options:
- Use the Dispute or remove link on the row. It opens a pre-filled email to us with the item ID attached.
- Write directly to legal@rumors.fyi with a description of the issue.
We read every message and respond. See our Terms of Service for the formal notice procedure, and our How we curate page for the review workflow.
The log
As of May 17, 2026, no retractions or corrections have been published. When we issue our first one, it will appear here.
